A46 LED lighting improvements, 6th October 2025 to 10th November 2025, Winthorpe to Syston Roundabout, by National Highways

National Highways Notification

Upgrading the current lighting to LEDs on the A46 between Winthorpe and Syston Roundabout. The new LED lighting will be more energy efficient and require less maintenance in the future.

When will this work take place?

We’ll work overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from 6 October 2025 to 10 November 2025, Monday to Friday.

What does this mean for you?

To ensure our work is carried out safely, we’ll work under a combination of slip road and lane closures. Unless otherwise indicated, work will be completed over 1 night.

Winthorpe underpass, Mon 6 Oct, no traffic management

Cattle Market Roundabout, Tue 7 Oct 8 nights, Inner and outer lane closures

Melton Road junction, Friday 17 Oct, A46 northbound entry slip closed

Melton Road junction, Monday 20 Oct, 2 nights, A46 southbound exit slip and lane 1 closed

Nottingham Raceway Karting junction, Monday 20 Oct, Southbound exit and entry slip closed

Melton Road junctio, Wed 22 Oct 2 nights, A46 northbound exit slip and lane 1 closed

Nottingham Raceway Karting junction, Wednesday 22 Oct Northbound exit and entry slip closed

Shell garage past Seagrave Road, Friday 24 Oct 8 nights, Northbound carriageway closed and a partial closure of Parkhill Lane. Lane 2 of the southbound carriageway also closed.

During closures, fully signed diversions will be in place.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.

We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
